Travel & Site Visit Policy

To keep things clear and fair for all customers, the following travel policy applies to all work carried out on your site:

 Service Area

I cover a defined local area as standard. Work outside this area may still be accepted but will be subject to additional travel charges and availability. (See Table below)

Travel Charges (Distance-Based)

Travel is calculated based on distance from my base to the job location. This is typically charged per mile or as a set rate within distance bands. All travel costs will be clearly outlined and agreed upon before work begins. Table 1 below gives an indication of the likely costs.

 Minimum Call-Out

A minimum charge applies to all bookings to ensure travel and setup time are covered. This will be confirmed when quoting.

 Parking & Additional Costs

Any parking fees, tolls, or congestion charges incurred during the job will be added to the final invoice.

Scheduling & Arrival Times

Estimated arrival windows are provided rather than exact times. While every effort is made to be punctual, delays caused by traffic or unforeseen circumstances may occur and will be communicated where possible.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

At least 24 hours’ notice is required for cancellations or changes. Late cancellations may incur a fee to cover lost time and travel.

Long-Distance Work

For projects requiring extended travel beyond normal working distance, accommodation and subsistence costs may apply. These will always be discussed and agreed in advance.

Site Visits & Quotes

Initial site visits may be free within the local service area. Visits outside this area may incur a travel charge, which will be confirmed beforehand.

Multi-Day Projects

For work spanning multiple days, travel charges may apply per visit unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Travel fees are calculated to recover the craftsman’s time and vehicle overheads. We operate a dual-base system centred on our Harlow Workshop (CM17) and Cambridge (CB1).

Policy Notes:

• Price is per site day: For a typical job this is 2 or more days. One day consultation/survey and one or more fitting after production is completed.
• The A10 Divider: The A10 (Kingsland Rd/Bishopsgate) is the boundary between the £70 (East) and £140 (Central/West) London rates.
• Calculation: All mileage is determined by the fastest Google Maps route from our Harlow workshop.
